April Rivers-Kennedy
ESR POCT Program Coordinator
April joined the Syphilis team at Flinders University ICPOCT in July 2022, originally as the coordinator of the WA Department of Health Program, and in February 2023, she moved into the coordinator role of the Enhanced Syphilis Response. April is extremely grateful to have the opportunity to support and visit generous and welcoming communities and their health services. She likes promoting sexual health and regular testing amongst young people and using science technology to increase health and wellbeing, especially in remote parts of Australia.
She has completed a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Health Science, an Honours degree in Health and Medical Sciences and a Graduate Certificate in Chronic Condition Management. A few of her extracurricular activities include playing local Aussie rules football, singing and performing and State Emergency Services volunteering
AJ Rustia
WA Syphilis POCT Program Coordinator
AJ joined the Syphilis POCT team at Flinders University in May 2023. After completing her Bachelor of Medical Science and Honours degree, AJ has been working and gaining experience in the health care field for over 4 years. With her combined keen interest in science and improving patient quality of living, AJ is excited to connect and work with the communities and health services in WA. Outside of work, AJ loves spending time outdoors with her Labrador puppy.
Karen Brandon
Syphilis POCT Administrative Assistant
Karen joined the team in August 2022. She has completed a Diploma in Business Administration and has been employed by Flinders University since 2007, most recently within the STEM Outreach Team as part of the Office of Student Recruitment. Karen is keen to learn about the work undertaken by the health services and support the program.
